Pupulidy led the US Forest Service office of Human Performance, Innovation and Organizational Learning which pioneered HOP and complex systems research. He developed the Learning Review, which replaced serious accident investigation. He has worked as an exploration geophysicist, and a pilot for the USCG, USAF and the USFS. Currently he is a Professor at the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
