33: More Hands, Less Risk: How One Pepsi Site Used Learning to Redesign Work for Safer Performance
2
The Pepsi Denver/Pecos beverage warehouse set out to better understand the conditions driving increased risk among warehouse pickers due to seasonal pressure that created operational drift as capacity became constrained. In this session, you’ll learn how the team combined employee insights with data from a risk analytics platform to explore how factors like hours worked, days on shift, sleep levels, case volume and warehouse staffing capacity interacted to shape performance and ergonomic risk exposure. Through this learning-driven approach, the group discovered that system pressures, not individual actions, were influencing risk. We’ll discuss how these insights informed a plan to increase headcount and redistribute workload, with an upcoming assessment scheduled to evaluate the impact on fatigue and risk
